We all lost something that day; Citizens of the World, Americans, Christian Americans, Muslim Americans, Jewish Americans, Americans across every religious and non-religious spectrum, social and economic standing, race, creed, and identity. And now nine years later we are still confronted with a choice; the choice to respond with violence, hatred, and bigotry, to remember and let the memory fuel anger and misinformation, or to remember and respond in a way that denies evil its victory; to never forget and to allow the memory to empower us and move us to understanding, good works, outreach, grace, love, peace and goodwill to ALL. As for me, I will choose the latter.
